Virtual Secret Santa
A remote exchange needs one extra step: getting the gift to the person. Plan for shipping time.
Steps
- Run the draw at least three weeks ahead so gifts ship in time.
- Ask each person to put a delivery address or preferred e-gift option in their wishlist note. Only their Secret Santa sees it.
- Agree on a video call where everyone opens gifts together.
Shipping tips
- Order directly to the recipient's address and add a gift message.
- International groups: digital gifts (e-books, gift cards, online classes) avoid customs delays.
- Set a "ship by" date one week before the call.

Questions
How do people share addresses privately?
Each person writes it in their own wishlist. Only the person who drew them sees it on their reveal page. Groups are deleted automatically after 120 days.
When should a virtual Secret Santa draw happen?
At least three to four weeks before the exchange, so there is time to buy and ship. Check the carrier cutoff dates above.
What if someone does not want to share their address?
Agree that e-gifts are fine for them, such as a digital gift card, an e-book or an online class, and note it in their wishlist.
How do international teams handle customs?
Ship from a retailer inside the recipient's country where possible, or choose digital gifts to avoid duplicate duties and delays.
