Why prompt games suit a Galentine gathering
A February gathering of friends works best when people can drift in, grab a plate, and join a game without reading a rulebook. Prompt games do that job. The generator above draws short statements or choices that get a group talking, and the printed card grid gives you something to hand out or leave on the table. Everything shows on this screen; nothing is sent anywhere.
Game 1: Most Likely To
How to run it
- Seat everyone in the room in a loose circle, plates allowed.
- Read a statement aloud. Give the group five seconds to point at one person.
- Count the pointing fingers. Whoever collects the most points takes the round. On a tie, the tied people each tell a ten-second story and the room claps for the winner.
- Note the answer on a scrap sheet so you can recap later, which is often funnier than the game itself.
Adjustments
- Shy group: let people vote on paper slips instead of pointing.
- Large group: split into two circles and hold a final round between the two winners.
- Mixed comfort levels: allow a pass once per person with no penalty.
Game 2: This or That
How to run it
- Mark two sides of the room, one for each option.
- Read a pair aloud, then call out a walk signal. Everyone moves to their side.
- Ask one person on each side why they chose it. Keep answers to one sentence.
- No movement option: everyone holds up one or two fingers at the same time.
Adjustments
- Add a speed round where the group has two seconds to choose.
- Turn it into a mixer by pairing people from opposite sides for a short chat.
- Use the printed cards as table place cards if you want prompts without a screen in the room.
Six more games with rules and supplies
1. Friendship Trivia
Rules: form teams of two to four. Ask ten questions built from group history, such as where two people met or who planned the last outing. One point per correct answer, half point for a close guess the room accepts. Supplies: question sheet, pens, score sheet.
2. Compliment Relay
Rules: sit in a circle. Each person gives the next person a specific compliment, not a general one, then passes the turn. Anyone who repeats a word already used loses a point. One point per compliment that earns a chorus of agreement. Supplies: none.
3. Guess the Story
Rules: each guest writes a two-line true story and a two-line false one about themselves. Read them aloud anonymously and let the group vote. One point per correct guess. Supplies: index cards, pens, a basket.
4. Craft Swap Table
Rules: everyone brings one small craft supply or finished item under a set dollar cap. Draw numbers and pick from the table. Allow one steal per item, then lock it. Supplies: a table, numbering slips, wrapping or bags.
5. Playlist Bingo
Rules: build five-by-five cards from song titles the group submitted. Play clips and mark squares. First to a full row calls it; first to a full card wins the round. Supplies: printed cards, a speaker, markers.
6. Letter to Next Year
Rules: give everyone ten minutes to write a short note to themselves about friendship goals. Seal notes in envelopes with names and a date one year out. No scoring; this is the closing activity. Supplies: paper, pens, envelopes, tape.

Start the draw โScoring that keeps it friendly
Keep a single sheet on a clipboard and post it where people can see it. Award one point per round win in the prompt games and in trivia. Give bonus points for effort categories: best explanation, most surprising answer, best recovery after a wrong guess. Cap any one person at two bonus points so a single strong round does not run away with the night. End with a small prize for the top score and a consolation item for the person who laughed hardest. Keep prizes small and group-friendly, such as a candle or a shared dessert.
Hosting order for a two-hour party
- First 20 minutes: arrivals, food out, name stickers, and the craft swap table set up.
- Minutes 20 to 40: This or That as an icebreaker while people are still standing.
- Minutes 40 to 60: Most Likely To in a seated circle once plates are filled.
- Minutes 60 to 75: Friendship Trivia in teams.
- Minutes 75 to 90: Compliment Relay or Guess the Story, whichever fits the energy.
- Minutes 90 to 105: dessert, score tally, and prizes.
- Last 15 minutes: Letter to Next Year, then a group photo and goodbyes.
Budget estimate for supplies and small prizes: 30 to 60 dollars for a group of eight, depending on what you already own. Time to prepare: roughly one hour, mostly printing and cutting cards.
Practical notes for the host
- Print the card grid before guests arrive so you can hand out prompts without passing a screen around.
- Keep prompts appropriate for the room; every group has a different comfort level.
- Set a timer for each game so one activity does not swallow the night.
- Have a quiet corner for anyone who wants to sit out a round.
- Ask about food allergies when you send the invitation, not at the door.

Questions
What is the difference between the two prompt modes?
Most Likely To gives a statement about a person in the room, and the group points to whoever fits. This or That gives two options and the group moves to a side or votes by hand. Both draw without repeats until the list runs out.
How many prompts are included in each mode?
Forty per mode. After a full pass the deck reshuffles, so the party can keep going for another round.
Can I use the printed cards without a screen?
Yes. The print button builds a twelve-card page from the chosen mode and opens the print dialog. You can cut the grid apart or leave it as a sheet for table prompts.
What if my group is small or shy?
Use paper voting instead of pointing, allow one pass per person, and swap the movement game for finger voting. Compliment Relay and Guess the Story also work well with four or five people.
